On August 3, 2023, Prince Edward Island conducted a new invitation round under the PEI PNP Draw in the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams and invited 58 candidates. This draw invited candidates working in: Healthcare  Manufacturing  Food Processing  Construction  Hotel/Accommodation   Agriculture  According to the schedule, the next PEI PNP draw will occur on August 17, 2023. Canadian Government announced a new Youth Mobility Agreement with Iceland

On August 4, 2023, the Canadian Government announced a new Youth Mobility Agreement with Iceland, allowing Canadian and Icelandic youth aged 18 to 30 to work and travel in each other’s country for up to 12 months.  The governments of Canada and Iceland will implement the new arrangement in 2024 after meeting all requirements. The new arrangement strengthens the ties between the two countries while providing Canadian youth with more international travel and work options.  It also helps develop life skills, improves future job prospects, and invests in the potential of their youth, leading to a stronger, more interconnected global community. A large number of Icelandic immigrants and their descendants outside of Iceland reside in Canada. 101,990 people with Icelandic ancestry live in Canada, according to the 2021 Census.  Up to 120 youths per year from Canada and Iceland will be able to work and visit each other’s countries according to the agreement between the two nations.   Marie-France Lalonde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship stated: “Youth mobility arrangements are all about assisting our youth—their goals, interests, and potential to impact the globe.” With this wonderful arrangement in place, we are opening the way for them to connect, develop, and grow alongside one another, forming friendships and creating lifelong memories. In addition to providing Canadian employers with a larger and more diversified talent pool, together we are creating a world where our youth can get essential life skills and experiences.” The Honourable Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Iceland stated: “We are signing a youth mobility agreement with Canada here in Manitoba, and Iceland is extremely happy to do so. Youth from Iceland and Canada will have the chance to work and travel in each other’s countries due to this arrangement, discovering different cultures while also advancing their life skills and professional chances.”   What is the youth mobility agreement? More than 38 countries and territories have bilateral youth mobility agreements with Canada. Foreign youth between the ages of 18 and 35 can apply for a temporary work permit under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, which enables them to travel and work in Canada. IEC can support you in achieving your goals, whether you wish to take a gap year before beginning postsecondary education, complete a co-op or internship abroad, or get international job experience after graduation. Since 2008, almost 240,000 Canadians have taken part in the IEC Program, and many of them have returned to their home country with life-changing experiences that have enriched both their personal and professional lives. A recognized organization (RO) is an option for young people who require assistance in arranging their IEC experience. Latest category-based Express Entry draw invited 800 Francophone candidates

On August 2, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held the Latest category-based Express Entry draw, selecting candidates for French language proficiency. In round #260, IRCC issued 800 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to francophone candidates.  The cut-off score of this draw was 435 points, 60 points more than the previous draw for this category. The tie-breaking rule for this round was July 31, 2023, at 09:57:30 UTC.  As of August 1, 2023, there were 211,529 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool. This year, Canada issued 71,948 ITAs through the Express Entry draws.   Express Entry draws in July 2023 Six Express Entry draws were conducted by IRCC in the first two weeks of July 2023. Another category-based draw with a focus on French-speaking candidates was held by the IRCC on July 11 and 12. The cut-off CRS score for the draw was 375, the lowest CRS score required for any Express Entry draw in 2023, and 3,800 people were invited. The IRCC continued to focus on people who speak French. Strong French speakers who applied through Express Entry received 2,300 invitations as of July 7. The required CRS cutoff score for the candidates was 439. On July 6, the second category-based Express entry draw for medical professionals took place. With a cutoff CRS score of 463, 1,500 individuals in total were invited to apply. 500 candidates with experience in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) were invited on July 5. A 486 CRS score was specified as the base requirement. Canada launched an Express Entry draw on July 4th and invited 700 applicants. The highest July score of 511 was selected as the minimum requirement for a CRS score. On August 3, 2023, Ontario invited 2,844 candidates under the biggest Skilled Trades draw of 2023 of the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP). The CRS score range of the invited candidates was between 250-516 points.  Candidates who created their profiles in the Express Entry system between August 3, 2022, to August 3, 2023, were considered by OINP in this draw for 46 NOCs.  Candidates who received a notification of interest do not need to contact the program and can apply to the stream.  This year, the province has invited 7,512 candidates under this stream and issued 25,797 invitations under all OINP`s streams. Alberta held two occupation-specific AAIP draws on August 2, 2023, the Government of Alberta published the results of the new invitation rounds in the Alberta Express Entry Stream. On August 1, 2023, the province held two draws under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).  Alberta issued 11 invitations under the Designated Healthcare Pathway. Invited candidates had a minimum score of 317. In addition, the AAIP invited 32 candidates with Alberta job offers in the agriculture sector.  As of August 2, 2023, the province invited 2,069 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry and issued 6,431 nomination certificates.   What is Alberta Express Entry Stream? A limited number of qualifying applicants may be nominated by Alberta through the Express Entry system of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada under the Alberta Express Entry Stream. The Alberta Express Entry System’s priorities and methods of selecting applicants are provided as a courtesy and are subject to change at any time. On August 3, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held the first occupation-specific skilled trades Express Entry draw and issued 1,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates working in one of the skilled trades occupations.  In round #261, the cut-off score was 388 points.  The tie-breaking rule for this round was June 7, 2023, at 07:03:08 UTC.  As of August 1, 2023, there were 211,529 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool. 199 skilled candidates and tech professionals invited under the BC PNP Draw on August 1, 2023, British Columbia issued new invitations in the Skilled Worker – International Graduate categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP).  In the Tech-targeted draw, BC issued 132 invitations with a minimum score of 88 points.  In the Childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202), the province invited 39 candidates who scored 60 points.  In the Healthcare-targeted draw, the province issued 23 invitations.  Additionally, fewer than five invitations have been issued for other priority occupations (NOCs 31103, 32104).  The province invited up to 199 candidates with a score of 60-88 points. Ontario issued 840 invitations under the 3 OINP streams

On August 1, 2023, the Government of Ontario invited candidates through three OINP streams. The province issued 755 invitations to apply (ITAs) for the Master’s Graduate stream and 84 ITAs for the PhD Graduate Stream.  The minimum scores for these draws were 48 points and 39 points, respectively.  In addition, the province invited one candidate in the targeted draw for the federal Economic Mobility Pathways Project under the OINP’s Foreign Worker stream.  So far, Ontario has issued invitations to 22,953 candidates under all streams in 2023. On July 31, 2023, the City of Greater Sudbury held a new round of invitations for the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP). In this round, Sudbury considered 54 candidates, including one drawn through the Francophone Stream. The lowest score of these draws was 240 points, ten points lower than in the previous draw.  Last year, Sudbury invited a total of 154 applicants. Since the program’s launch, the city has recommended at least 400 individuals under the RNIP. So far, the city has considered 230 candidates in 2023. Canada invited 2,000 candidates in the recent all-program Express Entry draw

On August 1, 2023, IRCC issued 2,000 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under the recent all-program Express Entry draw. In this draw, IRCC invited candidates under all immigration programs.  In round #259, the cut-off score was 517 points, 12 points more than in the previous all-program draw.  The tie-breaking rule for this round was June 30, 2023, at 11:45:05 UTC.  As of August 1, 2023, there are 211,529 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 2,266 more than in the previous update. In 2023, Canada issued 71,148 ITAs through the Express Entry draws. Overview of the most recent all-program Express Entry draws On July 12, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a new Express Entry draw for Francophone candidates, selecting candidates for French language proficiency.  In round #258, IRCC issued 3,800 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to qualified candidates.   This round had the lowest cut-off score – 375, 64 points fewer than the previous draw for this category.  The tie-breaking rule for this round was June 15, 2023, at 23:49:05 UTC.  800 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 505 were invited to an all-program draw on July 11. Click here to read more about July, 11 and 12th draws  For the first time in Express Entry’s history, ITAs were issued on four consecutive days during the first full week of July.  An unexpected all-program draw on July 4 resulted in the invitation of 700 candidates. They required a CRS minimum of 511, the highest CRS score of any all-program draw in 2023 so far away. In accordance with previously announced plans, the IRCC performed a category-based selection draw on July 5 for applicants with experience in STEM occupations. Since the categories for the category-based selection draw were announced on May 31, this was the first draw for STEM candidates. 500 applicants with a minimum CRS score of 486 were invited by IRCC.
