On August 17, 2023, Prince Edward Island held new draws under the PEI PNP streams.  PEI PNP invited 138 candidates in the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams.  Another four invitations were sent to Business Impact Category candidates. The lowest score for the business candidates was 102.  In total, PEI issued 142 invitations in this round. What are the requirements for PEI critical worker stream? For the PEI Critical Worker Stream, you must meet the following requirements: have a job offer for a full-time, non-seasonal (i.e., permanent or for at least two years) intermediate skilled position from a PEI firm, which is designated as a TEER category 4 or 5 position (link is external) have worked a minimum of six months full-time for the PEI employer; have a valid work permit and legal status in Canada; having a secondary school diploma as a minimum education; must be a person between the ages of 18 and 59 have completed relevant education or have a minimum of two years of full-time work experience within the last five years offer a language test with a minimum CLB/NCLC 4 score from an IRCC-approved testing center that was taken within the last two years; have sufficient funds to cover all immigration-related charges (including travel costs) for you and your family to be able to settle in PEI; and Demonstrate a genuine desire to settle in PEI. In the first half of June, Prince Edward Island held two PEI EOI draws. On June 1, 2023, PEI conducted a new invitation round in the Labour Impact Category and invited 97 candidates. Only Labour and Express Entry applicants were invited to the most recent Prince Edward Island PNP draw. On the PEI PNP draw held on June 1st, no invites for Business Work Permit Entrepreneurs were sent out. The previous draw of this sort was held on May 4, 2023. The Prince Edward Island PNP has invited 2,256 Labour & Express Entry applicants over the past 12 months, while 92 Business Work Permit Entrepreneur applicants received invites. Prince Edward Island to hire internationally trained nurses in Dubai

The Prince Edward Island (PEI) officials traveled nearly 10,000 km in March to recruit nurses in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. PEI’s director of Workforce Planning, Recruitment, and Pharmaceutical Services states that over 30 nurses are expected to immigrate to the province by early 2024.  Healthcare authorities across Canada are facing severe labor shortages. In Prince Edward Island, the current job vacancy rate at Health PEI is approximately 20%. As a result of the nursing shortage on Prince Edward Island, many nurses are reluctant to accept additional shifts. In March, officials from the province’s Office of Immigration and Health P.E.I. interviewed a large number of nurses who had international education in Dubai. Rebecca Gill, P.E.I.’s acting director of health recruitment said; “The process was very impactful and very successful. They are excited to visit Prince Edward Island, contribute to our healthcare system, and change the world. They are making a significant effort, so I believe they will continue to keep going in the future.” Arrival dates will vary due to the continued immigration process, but according to Gill, the majority are anticipated to arrive by the end of this year or in the early months of 2024.   As stated by Tracy Wolbaum, executive director of human resources at the organization, Health P.E.I. is now dealing with a 20% vacancy rate for every category of staff. She stated that a good range for that amount would be five to seven percent. Additionally, there are about the same amount of full-time and part-time staff members, when there should be seven full-timers for every three part-timers. Part-time employees, according to Wolbaum, have contributed “tremendously” to the workload, but they are unable to be depended upon to agree to take on extra shifts in the same way. On March 16, 2023, Prince Edward Island conducted a PEI PNP new invitation round.
