Alberta invited the healthcare professionals and updated the AAIP inventory

On October 10, 2023, the AAIP invited 13 healthcare professionals working in the healthcare sector who scored 327 points. This year, Alberta invited 3,381 candidates and issued 8,437 nomination certificates In addition, on October 10, 2023, Alberta published an update considering the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) inventory. According to the new update, there were around:  2,462 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications,  668 Rural Renewal Stream applications,  212 Accelerated Tech Pathway applications,  114 Family Connection Stream applications,  167 applications from priority sectors, and  less than ten applications under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway.  About the AAIP Nomination certificate limits The figures below are correct as of October 11, 2023. Each year, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sets the maximum number of nomination certificates that the AAIP may issue. In 2023, AAIP will be able to award 9,750 nomination certificates, divided between Express Entry and non-Express Entry pathways (which could change over the year). In 2024 and 2025, nominal rises of more than 10,000 nomination allocations per year are intended. These AAIP programs are subject to change at any time and without notice. They are partly determined by changing application levels and how nomination allocations are projected to be used in 2023. AAIP application processing times Depending on the stream/pathway the processing time may vary. The Employment Rate in Canada

The Employment Rate in Canada Increases to 62% with 64,000 New Jobs

In September, the employment rate in Canada increased, adding 64,000 jobs. The employment rate rose by 0.1 percentage points to reach 62%. The most significant changes were seen among individuals aged 25 to 54.  Employment increased for core-aged women by 37,000 or 0.6% and for core-aged men by 32,000 or 0.5%. Youth aged 15 to 24 and individuals aged 55 and older saw little change in employment.  Two provinces experienced a decrease in employment: New Brunswick, with a decline of 2,700 workers, and Alberta, with a drop of 38,000 workers.  On the other hand, six provinces saw an increase in employment. Quebec gained 39,000 workers, British Columbia gained 26,000, Manitoba gained 8,800, Saskatchewan gained 6,000, Nova Scotia gained 3,200, and Prince Edward Island gained 2,700. Overview of the Employment Rate in Canada The employment rate in Canada increased by 64,000 (+0.3%) in September, following a 40,000 (+0.2%) gain in August. Since the beginning of the year, employment has increased by 30,000 every month on average. The unemployment rate remained steady in September, remaining at 5.5% for the third month in a row.  In September, average hourly wages increased 5.0% (+$1.63 to $34.01) year on year, following rises of 4.9% in August and 5.0% in July. Total hours worked were almost steady in September, rising 2.6% year on year The increased trend in employment continues, despite the fact that the population is growing at the fastest rate since 1957. The population aged 15 and older in the Labour Force Survey (LFS) increased by 82,000 (+0.3%) in September. The employment rate—the proportion of the population aged 15 and older who are employed—can be used to determine if employment growth is keeping up with population growth. Given the recent rate of population increase, employment improvements of around 50,000 per month are required to keep the employment rate stable. In September, the employment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points to 62.0%, recovering the August decrease. The September employment rate (61.9%) was little changed from the same month in 2022 (61.9%) but was down 0.5 percentage points from the most recent peak (62.5%) in January 2023. Canada announced a new Humanitarian PR pathway for immigrants from the Americas

On October 10, 2023, Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced a new humanitarian PR pathway for individuals from the Americas. Canada will welcome 15,000 migrants and provide regular migration pathways to people in the Americas, offering economic opportunities as an alternative to irregular migration.  As part of this commitment, Canada will welcome up to 11,000 Colombians, Haitians, and Venezuelans through the new pathway. This fall, foreign nationals from these countries located in Central or South America or the Caribbean with extended family connections in Canada will be able to apply for this new pathway. “This year, we are welcoming an additional 4,000 temporary foreign workers from the region, many of whom have already arrived in Canada. We are on track to attain this target based on current trends. In addition, we are collaborating with regional non-governmental organizations to capitalize on the new Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, which assists skilled refugees and other displaced persons in immigrating to Canada.” Said Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). We also assist the work of the region’s safe mobility offices, whose goal is to evaluate individuals for humanitarian and other regular pathways.  “We are increasing our support for regional capacity-building efforts by investing $75 million over six years in projects across Latin America and the Caribbean.” These projects aim to improve asylum capability as well as the integration of migrants and refugees into local communities and labor markets. The funding will assist countries, including those where refugees and migrants are arriving, transiting, or being hosted, in addressing the difficulties of irregular migration while also improving the quality of life for migrants and refugees.“ Said Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). New Humanitarian PR pathway Ottawa has announced that “beginning this fall,” a “new humanitarian permanent residence pathway” will be opened for 11,000 Colombians, Haitians, and Venezuelans. To be eligible, the major applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident’s kid (regardless of age), grandchild, spouse, common-law partner, parent, grandparent, or sibling. “Successful applicants will be given enhanced pre-arrival services, such as an employment skills assessment and referral to a settlement provider organization in their intended community.” More details will be given closer to the new pathway’s launch. 185 tech professionals and skilled candidates were invited under the BC PNP On October 11, 2023. British Columbia issued new invitations in the Skilled Worker – International Graduate categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP). The province invited up to 185 candidates with a score of 60-90 points. In the Tech-targeted draw, BC issued 118 invitations with a minimum score of 90 points.  In the Childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202), the province invited 45 candidates who scored 60 points.  In the Healthcare-targeted draw, the province issued 17 invitations.  In addition, the province invited up to five candidates for other priority occupations (NOCs 31003, 32104).  Including this draw, in 2023, British Columbia has already issued 8,228 invitations. On October 10, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 3,725 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates under the new all-program Express Entry draw 268.  Details of the new all-program Express Entry draw 268 Under the new all-program Express Entry draw #268, 3,725 applicants were invited and in this draw, IRCC invited candidates under all immigration programs. In the latest round of invitations, the cut-off score was 500 points, 4 points fewer than in the previous all-program draw.  The tie-breaking rule for this round was October 2, 2023, at 15:25:30 UTC.  As of October 10, 2023, there are 213,592 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool.  In 2023, Canada issued 89,773 ITAs through the Express Entry draws. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score for the October 10 draw was 500, which was four points lower than the previous all-program draw on September 26. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the Express Entry. As the Government published the Express Entry Year-End Report for 2022, there were:  428,391 Express Entry profiles were submitted, a 3% decrease from 2021 but a 19% increase from 2020.  At least 74% of the profiles were eligible for one of the immigration programs managed by Express Entry, with no change from 2021.  Men submitted more profiles (238,382) than women (189,881), with the proportion unchanged at 56% and 44%, respectively.  The ratio of eligible profiles remained the same for men (71%) from 2020 to 2022, but there was a slight increase for women in 2022 (78%). Express Entry candidates are no longer required to provide upfront medical examination On September 29, 2023, the Government of Canada implemented changes to the medical examination requirement for Express Entry applicants. As of October 1, 2023, upfront medical examinations are no longer mandatory during the application process. Instead, applicants are advised to await instructions before proceeding with a medical examination. Applicants must complete a medical examination within 30 days of receiving the instructions. This modification aims to simplify the application process and ensure that medical examinations are carried out at the appropriate time. Canada started inviting candidates under the Parents and Grandparents Program

On October 10, 2023, the Canadian Government started inviting candidates through the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). From October 10 to October 23, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will send invitations to apply to 24,200 potential sponsors selected randomly from the pool of submissions from 2020.  IRCC aims to receive 15,000 complete applications. Candidates who submitted an interest to sponsor form in 2020 but have yet to receive an invitation to apply for the PGP in 2021 or 2022 should continue checking their emails for the invitation from IRCC. What are the updated income requirements for the Parents and Grandparents Program? You, the sponsor (and your co-signer, if you have one), must demonstrate that you have sufficient money to support all of the persons for whom you will be financially responsible after you become a sponsor. Manitoba conducted a latest PNP draw and invited over 500 candidates

On October 5, 2023, Manitoba held a new invitation round in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). latest PNP draws #197, the MPNP invited 542 applicants under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM) stream, the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, and the International Education Stream.  Details of Manitoba Latest PNP Draw In occupation-specific selection round #197, Manitoba in the latest PNP Draw sent out invitations to 524 candidates in three MPNP streams. In this round, Manitoba has issued LAAs to 542 candidates, including 140 express-entry candidates. In 2023, MPNP invited 13,445 candidates, and 3,675 of them received invitations in the Express Entry. As a candidate, you can work with an immigration specialist. The minimum score for the LAA in this category was 629 points, two points fewer than the previous draw.  Skilled Workers Overseas stream In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, MPNP issued 41 LAAs to candidates invited under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The lowest score in the SWO category was 601 points, 122 points fewer than in the previous draw.  International Education Stream In the International Education Stream (IES), 60 invitations were issued in the International Education Stream.  About the Skilled Workers Overseas stream The Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO) pathway selects applicants who can demonstrate an extensive connection to Manitoba by: the assistance of family members or friends; previous education or employment in the province; or an Invitation to Apply received directly from the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative. Besides your Manitoba connection, you have to get at least 60 points on five criteria: language competency, age, work experience, education, and adaptability. According to the new update, there were around:  2,307 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications,  626 Rural Renewal Stream applications,  191 Accelerated Tech Pathway applications,  125 Family Connection Stream applications,  157 applications from priority sectors, and  less than ten applications under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway. In addition, on October 3, 2023, the AAIP invited 33 candidates working in the agriculture sector who scored 313 points.  This year, Alberta invited 3,368 candidates and issued 7,968 nomination certificates. Canada extended measures for temporary and permanent residents affected by wildfires

On October 4, 2023, the Canadian Government extended temporary measures for communities affected by the 2023 wildfire. To be eligible for special measures, applications for document replacement, extension, or restoration must be submitted by November 30, 2023. On June 12, 2023, the Government announced free replacement documents for Canadians and residents who lost or damaged their documents due to the fires.  Temporary residents affected by the wildfires whose status was expiring by September 30, 2023, could extend or restore their status in Canada for free. Free replacement documents and special measures for Canadians affected by devastating wildfires With the country undergoing an unprecedented wildfire season, the Government of Canada is acting quickly to assist communities and residents. This includes assistance for Canadians as well as individuals who are critical to the rebuilding effort. The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, announced special measures for those who have been affected and need to replace crucial documents or extend or restore their status in Canada. For Canadians, permanent residents, and temporary residents directly affected by the wildfires, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will provide free replacement documents. Permanent resident cards, Canadian citizenship certificates, Canadian passports, and other travel documents lost, damaged, destroyed, or made unusable as a result of wildfires are listed. International students, temporary foreign workers, and other visitors whose status in Canada will expire before September 30, 2023, will also be eligible to apply, reinstate, or extend their status in Canada for free. This means that temporary workers who are unable to work because their workplace has been closed due to the fires will be able to extend their status and stay until their workplace reopens. In addition, if their classes are postponed or canceled, overseas students can extend their study permits and complete their studies without penalty. The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship stated: “We will continue to assist anyone affected by devastating wildfires across the country. These new measures will make it easier for Canadians, permanent residents, and temporary residents to replace misplaced documents. They will also assist in ensuring that temporary residents are not unfairly penalized and will be present to assist in the rebuilding of our communities.
