full-time jobs

The number of full-time jobs held by immigrants increased

The number of full-time jobs held by immigrants increased On November 4, Statistics Canada revealed the Labour Force Survey data for October 2022. The general unemployment rate has returned to its original state after the observed increases from May to September but is still equivalent to September’s 5.2%. The survey revealed that immigrants successfully secured employment and filled various labour shortages across Canada.  According to the statistical and demographic services agency’s most recent Labour Force Survey, employment increased across a number of industries, with manufacturing, construction, lodging and food services leading the way.   Overview For the first time since March 2022, the number of employees in the private sector increased. The employment situation for both self-employed people and public sector employees remained quite stable. In the key working age range of 25 to 54, employment rose for both men and women in October. For both men and women between the ages of 15 and 24 and 55 and older, there had been little change. Employees’ average hourly salaries increased 5.6% (+$1.68 to $31.94) from October 2021 to October 2018, staying above 5% for a sixth consecutive month (not seasonally adjusted). Nearly two-thirds (64.3%) of workers making more than $40.00 an hour in October had been given a raise the year before, compared to half (50.1%) of those making $20.00 or less (population aged 15 to 69; not seasonally adjusted).   In October, 35.3% of Canadians aged 15 and over lived in households where it was difficult to cover basic expenses, up from 1/5 in October 2020. (not seasonally adjusted). In October, more than 1.7 million Canadians had flexible work schedules (population aged 15 to 69; not seasonally adjusted). Total hours worked grew by 0.7% in October after falling by 0.6% in September. The overall number of hours worked increased by 2.2% from October 2021.   Immigrants are successful at finding employment According to the survey, immigrants have been successful in finding work and bridging some of Canada’s labour market gaps. Over 62% of immigrants who are 15 years of age and older are employed.    Additionally, it was discovered that the employment rate of immigrants who entered Canada in the last five years was 70.7%, higher than it was in October of last year, before the pandemic.   Six provinces record increased employment. Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba saw the most growth in employment. With 43,000 positions filled, mostly in part-time employment, Ontario experienced the biggest growth in employment. The sectors of lodging and dining as well as professional, scientific, and technological services had the highest gains. At 5.9%, the overall unemployment rate is comparable with September’s level. Quebec also demonstrated remarkable growth, filling 28,000 full-time jobs. The sectors of construction, finance, insurance, real estate, rental, and leasing saw the majority of the gains overall. The unemployment rate in the province is 4.1%. After Hurricane Fiona, which severely damaged the province, Prince Edward Island experienced some significant employment growth. 4,300 more jobs were added to the workforce.   To find out more details about “The number of full-time jobs held by immigrants increased”, you can contact one of our immigration specialists at  Gunness & Associates.   Tel: (416) 604-2669  Email: info@test.immigrationmatters.info Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families. start-up visa

Canada tripled the number of start-up visa approvals.

Business people are flocking to Canada thanks to the Start-Up Visa program. According to the latest data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), nearly three times as many entrepreneurs have set up businesses in Canada through the Start-Up Visa program this year compared to last year.  420 permanent residents have come to Canada in the first eight months of this year under the Start-Up Visa program, which is 189.6% more than the 145 new permanent residents during that time last year.  Even though Canada got a record number of permanent residents (406,031) last year, the number of people who came through the Start-Up Visa program was much lower. But this year’s success is more than just a bounce-back from 2021 when the number of visitors was unusually low.   Canada to welcome more permanent residents through Start-Up visa Canada Immigrants who wish to launch a business in Canada frequently use the Start-Up visa. Through this scheme, 325 permanent residents were admitted to Canada between January and June. If this pace continued, 385 additional applicants would be granted a permanent residency at the end of this year. This year, the SUV program is drawing more business owners, which will lead to a 150 percent increase in the number of new permanent residents welcomed. Compared to federal worker programs like the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) and Federal Skilled Trade (FST), provincial nominee programs (PNP), or regional economic development programs like the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) and Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, the SUV program produces significantly fewer new permanent residents overall (RNIP).   The table below shows how many entrepreneurs were invited to Canada in the first seven months of 2022. Month Canada SUV invites Month Canada SUV invites January 55 February 40 March 60 April 20 May 60 June 70 July 45   At the current pace, 630 permanent residents can be invited by the end of 2022 through the Start-Up visa program, with an average invitation rate of 52.5%. By virtue of the SUV program, British Columbia and Ontario are likely to benefit more than any other.   For the SUV, the following basic requirements: A legitimate business; a statement of support and commitment from a recognized organization; Both English or French fluency at the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark level 5 and adequate unrestricted,  available, and transferrable settlement funds are required.   To find out more details about “Canada SUV”, you can contact one of our immigration specialists at  Gunness & Associates.   Tel: (416) 604-2669  Email: info@test.immigrationmatters.info Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families. Healthcare

The number of job vacancies in Canada’s healthcare sector reaches an all-time high

A recent report from Statistics Canada showed that there are more healthcare job vacancies than ever before.  In August of 2022, there were 152,000 vacant healthcare and social assistance positions. Immigrants fill many healthcare positions in Canada.  In fact, 36% of physicians and 25% of registered nurses were born outside the country.    However, it can be difficult for foreign-trained medical professionals to get the proper licensing from Canadian authorities, which makes it hard for them to find work in the healthcare system.   Overall, there are around one million open positions in Canada, which is an all-time high rate of 5.7%. The number of open positions that correspond to the overall labor demand is used to measure vacancies.   The Healthcare system of Canada. One of the richest nations in the world, Canada has a successful economy, a wealth of natural resources, and excellent infrastructure. Progressive leaders in the US, the nation’s southern neighbor, have praised its universal public healthcare system as a better option than the American system, where millions of people remain without healthcare.   Canadian Medicare is a distributed, publically funded, and universal healthcare system. The provinces and territories of the nation are principally responsible for funding and managing health care. Each receives per-capita cash assistance from the federal government as well as its own insurance plan. Benefits and methods of delivery vary. However, all citizens and permanent residents are entitled to free point-of-use hospital and medical treatments. Dental care and prescription outpatient medications are examples of excluded services that some citizens and permanent residents may be required to pay for. For specific groups, provinces and territories offer some coverage. The majority of Canadians—about two-thirds—also have private insurance.    HealthCare Canada Job Benefits in Canada Career Perks: Opportunities for Growth access to ongoing education Flexible Work Schedules Mobility and Job Security Excellent pay and benefits Insurance Benefits Leave Benefits   To find out more details about “The number of job vacancies in Canada’s healthcare sector & related details”, you can contact one of our immigration specialists at  Gunness & Associates.   Tel: (416) 604-2669  Email: info@test.immigrationmatters.info Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families. Canada has the largest immigrant

Canada has the largest immigrant share of the population in over 150 years

Canada has the largest immigrant share of the population in over 150 years On October 26, 2022, Statistics Canada published the sixth round of the Census data report, announcing that immigrants made up almost a fourth of the Canadian population, which is the largest share in over 150 years.    Statistics show that as of 2021, 8.3 million people in Canada were landed immigrants or permanent residents, which is about 23% of the population.    This number has increased since the Confederation and is currently the highest among all G7 countries. As the Canadian population ages and fertility levels are below the population replacement level, immigration becomes Canada’s primary driver for population growth.   The highest percentage of immigrants among the G7 In 2021, about a quarter (23%) of the population, or more than 8.3 million people, were or had ever been landed immigrants or permanent residents in Canada, according to the report. This was the highest percentage among the G7 and the biggest percentage since the Confederation, breaking the previous record of 22.3% set in 1921.   Four-fifths of the increase in the labor force from 2016 to 2021 was due to immigration. In the same period, the number of people living in private households in Canada increased by 5.4%, with new or recent immigrants contributing 71.1% of that rise. The survey also predicts that, if current trends hold, immigrants might make up as much as 29.1% of Canada’s population by 2041.   In Canada, more than half of recent immigrants were accepted under the economic category. According to StatsCan, little over one-third (34.5%) of these 748,120 economic immigrants were chosen through skilled worker programs, and another third (33.6%) were chosen through the Provincial Nominee Program.   To find out more details about “Canada has the Largest immigrant share of the population”, you can contact one of our immigration specialists at  Gunness & Associates.   Tel: (416) 604-2669  Email: info@test.immigrationmatters.info Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families. Business leaders in Thunder Bay are delighted as the rural and northern immigration pilot programs extended The recent extension of the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has excited Thunder Bay’s business leaders and economic development officers. Charla Robinson, president of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, tweeted her excitement upon hearing that RNIP would be extended in Thunder Bay and other regional communities. Canada Improved Requirements for Healthcare Workers

As healthcare workers in Canada, it’s important to stay up-to-date on the latest changes to the requirements for your profession. Recently, the Canadian government has made some improvements to the requirements for healthcare workers in order to better protect patients and ensure high-quality care.   Some of the new requirements include completing a criminal background check, providing proof of professional liability insurance, and completing a mandatory online training program. These changes are designed to make sure that all healthcare workers in Canada are properly prepared to provide care and meet the needs of their patients.   Even if you’ve been working in the healthcare field for many years, it’s important to stay up-to-date on these changes. By doing so, you can be sure that you’re providing the best possible care for your patients and following all of the required guidelines.   Canada’s new pathway for Healthcare Workers  Get a free Assessment    There is good news for healthcare workers who want to move to Canada! The Canadian government has recently announced an improved pathway for healthcare workers to obtain permanent residency.   This new pathway will make it easier for healthcare workers with the skills and experience that are in high demand in Canada to obtain permanent residency. It will also help to address the current shortage of healthcare workers in Canada.   Workers are in limited supply across various businesses, including the health sector, as a result of the pandemic. But in order to gain high-caliber positions in healthcare, health professionals with overseas education frequently encounter difficulties in having their qualifications recognized in Canada. The Government of Canada is investing in initiatives that will assist talented new immigrants in using their education and talents sooner in order to give this goal top priority.   Carla Qualtrough, minister of employment, workforce development, and disability inclusion, announced financing for nine initiatives under the program for the recognition of foreign credentials. This investment will enhance the acceptance of international credentials and assist qualified immigrants in acquiring Canadian job experience in the healthcare industry. Along with officials from the Canadian Council for Practical Nurse Regulators, McGill University’s School of Physical & Occupational  Therapy, and the Halton Multicultural Council (HMC) Connections, Minister Qualtrough made the announcement. Join our newsletter and get up-to-date immigration news Click here The Career Accelerator for Foreign Trained Health Professionals in the COVID Environment project of HMC Connections is receiving financing. The Council will be able to help highly qualified healthcare professionals with overseas training gain Canadian work experience through this investment, with an emphasis on helping them find long-term sustainable employment in their field of study. The current pandemic and future demand for the health and social service sectors will be reduced as a result of this.   Finally, funding is being provided for the Language Proficiency Requirements for Safe Nursing Practice in Canada project run by the Canadian Council for Practical Nurse Regulators. The Council will evaluate, update, and validate the benchmarks for acceptable English and French language ability level in the licensing and registration of internationally educated nurses in Canada with the use of this investment.   Find out if you qualify as a healthcare worker!   Tel: (416) 604-2669 or email us at  info@test.immigrationmatters.info    Gunness & Associates has helped thousands of people successfully immigrate to Canada with their families.
